How Does Hypertension Cause Kidney Disease

Hypertension for a long time can cause severe conditions and one of the them is kidney damage. Therefore, patients with hypertension should take timely treatment to avoid further kidney damage.

How does high blood pressure cause kidney damage?

1. HBP causes artery damage, and the kidneys are packed with arteries.

Kidneys are supplied with dense blood vessels, and high volumes of blood flow through them. Over time, uncontrolled high blood pressure can cause arteries around the kidneys to narrow, weaken or harden. These damaged arteries are not able to deliver enough blood to the kidney tissue.

2. Damaged kidney arteries do not filter blood well.

Kidneys have small, finger-like nephrons that filter your blood. Each nephron receives its blood supply through tiny hair-like capillaries, which are the smallest of all blood vessels. When the arteries become damaged, the nephrons do not receive the essential oxygen and nutrients. Also, the kidneys lose their ability to filter blood and regulate the fluid, hormones, acids and salts in the body.

3. Damaged kidneys fail to regulate blood pressure.

Healthy kidneys produce a hormone to help the body regulate its own blood pressure. Kidney damage and uncontrolled high blood pressure each contribute to a negative spiral. As more arteries become blocked and stop functioning, the kidneys eventually fail. This process can happen over several years, but it can be prevented.

Managing your blood pressure is an important part of prolonging the health of your kidneys.

How to control your blood pressure?

-There are many medicines for you to lower blood pressure, such as ACEI and ARBs, which also helps to slow kidney damage. Take these blood pressure pills as prescribed by your doctor, even if you are feeling fine.

-Make changes to a healthier lifestyle. You should lower the intake of sodium, do some exercise regularly, keep a stable mood, etc.

-Do some tests regularly to check your kidney function, such as a blood test for creatinine, a urine test for protein, a urine test to check for red blood cells, etc. Once your kidney function begins to decline, immediate treatment should be received to prevent further damage.

Even if your kidneys have been damaged by high blood pressure, you should take it easy. Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy can dilate blood vessels and remove stasis to lower blood pressure and improve ischemia. It can also eliminate kidney inflammation and stop kidney fibrosis. With systemic treatment, your kidney function can be recovered to certain extent.
